We are more than conquerors.

All of our souls are hungry for something. We search and search and suddenly we find ourselves in places we know are not right. We are left feeling empty and without any light. Yet we continue on with the same bad habits or behaviors, or whatever it may be because it is all that we know. We are consumed and before we know it we find that it is too much. We are stuck. We need to escape and we have such a desire to beat whatever beast that may be causing us all of this grief. But we are stuck.

Deep down we all know the way out. Deep down we know exactly what needs to be done. But we are stuck. We are comfortable. Or fearful. Or selfish. Or lost. We feel unworthy. Or guilty. Or like it is just too much. We are stuck.

We feel as though God has deserted us and left us to figure it out on our own. When in reality it’s the exact opposite of that. God is near. He is standing right beside each and every one of us. He wants nothing more than for us to beat these battles we face. He wants nothing more than for us to face it with Him on our side. Each day is a battle. Each day we must fight. Each day we must remind ourselves of what is right. We can tell ourselves that it is not a big deal. That it will not make a difference whether we pray & stand still, or ignore the one who died on a cross up on that hill. But we know better. We know the truth. We know that the only way to face this world and our struggles is to look up to the one who created it all. We must not simply survive, but we must thrive. And to do that, we must keep coming back to what we all know is true.

We cannot allow the lies pounding in our heads to become the truth. We cannot believe that we are unworthy. We cannot believe that we are not good enough. We cannot believe that we are undeserving. We cannot believe that we are stuck. All of those things are true without Christ. But with Christ and His grace we are not chained down by them. We ARE worthy. We ARE good enough. We ARE deserving. We ARE NOT stuck.

God is here. He is the answer. He is the o n l y way to survive all of our disasters. We are human and mess up constantly. God is beyond that and He can be our hope. We all fall short and we all lose focus. At the end up the day what matters most is that we make the decision to get back on track, forgive ourselves, and take another step. just. one. more. step. Each day. Tell that to yourself until you find your way. Through Christ, we are able. Through Christ, we always win. Through Christ, we are made new. Through Christ, we are no longer stuck. We must rest in that. We must believe that.

“What, then, shall we say in response to these things? If God is for us, who can be against us? He who did not spare his own Son, but gave him up for us all–how will he not also, along with him, graciously give us all things? Who will bring any charge against those whom God has chosen? It is God who justifies. Who then is the one who condemns? No one. Christ Jesus who died–more than that, who was raised to life–is at the right hand of God and is also interceding for us. Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall trouble or hardship or persecution or famine or nakedness or danger or sword? As it is written:

‘For your sake we face death all day long; we are considered as sheep to be slaughtered.’

No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loves us. For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.” //Romans 8:31-39
